Smooth Leadership Transitions: Define a Board Future

Every nonprofit has moments that shape its destiny, and the handover from one chair to the next is one of them. A rocky transition can stall the mission and unsettle staff. A smooth one keeps the organization in rhythm — purpose aligned, confident, and ready for the next movement.

That’s why CNPA created the 90-Day Roadmap: to make every new chair’s first three months intentional, confident, and effective.

What’s Inside:

Your 90-day Roadmap covers what great chairs do first:

➡️ Before Day 1:  Prepare to hand over and align with your ED/CEO

➡️Days 1-30: Listen, learn, and set the tone for your board’s culture.

➡️Days 31-60: Align priorities and committees for real traction.

➡️Days 61-90: Embed governance habits, coach the team, and sustain momentum.

Why every board chair needs a roadmap!!

Being a nonprofit leader can be lonely. Sometimes you have big questions but don’t know where to turn.

That’s why the Canadian Nonprofit Academy exists—to give you the tools, insights, and community you need to succeed in governance and leadership.

The 90-Day Roadmap is for new and aspiring Board chairs who want to lead well.    Sign up below

Created by Canada’s Leading Governance Capacity Builder

The Canadian Nonprofit Academy has trained hundreds of board leaders across Canada to run effective meetings, strengthen governance, and elevate board culture. Led by Christina Becker, Governance Coach and founder of CNPA, the CNPA bridges strategy, teamwork, and capacity — helping nonprofit leaders step into their roles with clarity, confidence, and heart.

Christina Becker, Founder of the Canadian Nonprofit Academy

Christina Becker is the founder of the Canadian Nonprofit Academy and Vice President at Becker Associates.   She founded the Canadian Nonprofit Academy because she felt there was a need for good, affordable and just-in-time education and training for Canadian nonprofit boards.

She is an educator, consultant, and coach to the nonprofit sector and has served it for close to 40 years.  In her long career, she has had many roles – consultant, Executive Director, board member, volunteer President of a professional association – where she has helped nonprofit boards become more effective, refine their vision, and plan for their future.

She has served a volunteer president and experienced that there was a gap for small to medium sized board chairs or president to lead their organizations well.   This is why she created the 90-Day Roadmap and the Conducting Excellence Board Chiar Training Program.
